UNIFORM SOLUTIONS: Recently Mr. Vanderkooy announced
to the students that King’s pants would be new uniform
requirement. For four years we have experimented with voluntary
compliance. Although most students worked diligently within
the boundaries, the experiment has failed. Next year we will
also change to white T-shirts and white camisoles only. T-shirts
with any logos will not be permitted.
We realize that there have been frustrations with these
transitions. I am pleased to announce that Sportswear Unlimited
now offers six pant types that comply with our revised policy.
Each will carry the KING’S insignia just below the
waist band. To ease the transition, any pant that is currently
in your possession and purchased from McCarthy’s Uniforms
prior to April 30, 2005 can have the KING’S insignia
placed on these pants by Sportswear Unlimited. This will
be done at no cost to you- it is a free service. This provides
a good solution that ensures that present clothing will not
go to waste. Pants requiring cresting must be clean, labeled
with the student’s name and phone number. Pants to
be crested will be picked up from the office by June 15 and
will be delivered to the school with the new uniforms in
time to be worn for the fall. Also please be aware that bursaries
are available to families who need financial assistance.
Please contact the school office if you have any remaining
concerns. For other uniform information call Sportswear Unlimited
at 905 469-0440.
Dress Code
All students are expected to dress consistently with their
role and task. Students must be in uniform throughout the

be worn to all school events, including Parent-Teacher interviews,
travel & participation in school trips and to all sporting
events.
- All shirts, blouses or sweaters must be completely the
King’s uniform. For the buttoned garments, only two
buttons may be undone. A pure white or pure grey undergarment
may be worn.
- The pants and skirts must be monochrome navy blue in colour
and made from cotton material. Denim, nylon, and fleece
fabrics are not permitted.
- When standing tall, the skirt length must reach to within
four finger widths of the top of the knee cap.
- Pants, shirts and skirts must be worn so that no skin
is visible at the waist.
- Dress or sport shoes may be worn at the discretion of
the student.
- No hats or hoods may be worn in the school at any time.
- You may not wear a coat or jacket to class, assemblies
or morning devotions.
- King’s shorts and T-shirts must be worn for all
physical education classes and for all school team activities,
including practices.
- Any tints or dyes used for hair colour must be consistent
with natural colours.
Infractions will be considered defiance and will be processed
accordingly. In such cases, the student will purchase the
required articles of clothing from the office and charged
the cost accordingly.
Hats confiscated before December 1, will be returned to the
owner on the day before Christmas Holidays. Hats confiscated
after December 1 will be returned to the owner at the completion
of the last June examination.
Informal Dress Days
The third Friday of each month will be an informal dress
code day. These dates will be listed on the web-site. We continue
to expect attire that reflects our desire to be respectful
of self, others and God's expectations for holy living. The
following alternate expectations will be in place:
- The skirt length must reach to within four finger widths
of the top of the knee cap when standing tall.
- Pants, shirts and skirts must be worn so that no skin
is visible at the waist.
- The clothing may not display logos that depict alcohol,
drugs, or tobacco.
- The clothing may not display statements that show disrespect
for self, others and God.
- The clothing may not display groups who openly show disrespect
for self, others and God.
- No hats or hoods may be worn in the school at any time.
Uniform Options
A line of uniforms has been selected specifically for practical
wear and easy care. There are five required elements to the
uniform. Each student is required to have one of each of the
following:
- oxford shirt
- golf shirt
- gym shorts
- gym T-shirt
- fleece vest
Quantities and other components are optional. We do recommend
buying the fleece pants for gym in cooler weather and at least
one hoodie (in ash, maroon or white). The non-hooded ash sweatshirt
is for athletic wear and not intended to be part of the daily
uniform. A navy wrap style skirt is available in a washable,
no-iron fabric.
Choice of pants is left to the individual students
discretion. However, pants need to be dark navy in colour
and fabric that is not fleece, denim or nylon and worn at
waist level.
When deciding on size, Sportswear Unlimited Plus recommends
ordering larger sizes for growth. Keep in mind that the polo
shirts and turtle necks are 100% cotton. There will be some
shrinkage.
There is no exchange or return on ordered merchandise.
