The Advisory Board provides guidance to the Board of Directors upon request. The members are:
Mr. Bruce Etherington, CFP, CLU, CHFC. Born in England, Bruce came to Canada at the age of two. Married for 37 years to Karen, his “first date” and high school sweetheart, a former Pan-American flight attendant and full time mother. They have three children. Bruce graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1965 with a BA in economics and entered the life insurance business. Bruce is President of Etherington’s - a full service financial planning and wealth management firm specializing in the integration of wealth management and philanthropy. He is a 38-year “Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table” which is reserved for the top 2% insurance salespeople in the world! His book “See The People” is an international best seller. Bruce enjoys golfing, skiing, fishing, cycling, tennis, reading and music and his “Client Building System®” is changing the lives of salespeople around the world. Bruce and Karen worship at the Meeting House.
Mr. Jack Kiervin, and his wife, Shirley who owns Good Books, attend Chartwell Baptist Church. They have three married children and seven grandchildren. With over 34 years experience in the financial industry Jack has a passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed. He is a member of the Board of several charitable organizations, including Tyndale College, Prison Fellowship International and Canada, Kerr Street Ministries and King’s.
Mr. Brian Semkiw, is CEO and co-founder of Rand Worldwide and Chairman and co-founder of “Engineering.com”, companies which provide technology solutions to the worldwide engineering community. Brian and his wife of 22 years, Colleen, have four daughters, two of whom attend King’s. They have lived in Oakville since 1986. An avid golfer, Brian has a handicap of 3. They are members of Chartwell Baptist.
Mr. Robert M. Putman, C.A., Bob is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Legacy Hotels. Bob has been involved with King’s since its inception and has held a variety of roles as prayer warrior, Treasurer and Board Member. Bob and his family attend Chartwell Baptist Church in Oakville. Bob and his wife Debbie have 3 daughters, two attend King’s and one is at John Knox Christian School.
Mr. Harry Voortman is president of Voortman Cookies Limited located at 4455 North Service Road in Burlington. The company started in 1961 in a Hamilton home. Today, more that 40 product lines are distributed across North America. The bakery produces 20 million cookies in a 24 hour period. Harry and his wife Ann enjoy the love of their five children. They are members at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waterdown.
